Alvaro Casserly's service to Rotary and to his community did not end when he became as Past District Governor in 1990. He continued to give assistance to both in many ways, just as he had from the time he first joined Rotary. He has served as a resource to many of the Governors who have followed his year of leadership in District 7020. He also counsels Assistant Governors in his district. Currently, he is secretary of the Council of Governors. In his home club - the Rotary Club of St. Andrew - he serves as chairman of the Membership Development and Membership.

Al has been chairman for Rotary Extension the past two years and serves as district chairman for Community Service. His face is familiar at district conferences and the Zones 33 & 34 Institutes. Al was a member of the R.I. Village Corps Committee in 1891-92. He served three years on the R.I. National PolioPlus Committee.

His community work has gained him wide recognition in Janaica. He is chairman of the United Way of Jamaica and vice chairman of CLAA/CCAA. Until recently, he served as trustee for Caribbean Latin American Action and chairman of the Board of Governors for Nuttall Memorial Hospital. He has worked with the Jamaica Council for the Handicapped and the Council of Voluntary Social Services in Jamaica.

Al continues to serve as a Justice of the Peace and as a director for the Jamaica Stock Exchange and the Dyoll Group Limited. Since his term as district governor, he was chairman and director of Jamaica United Trust Services Limited as well as numerous other companies. He is a trustee of the Anglican Church.

Despite his active life in Rotary and business, even in retirement, Al has maintained 100% attendance in Rotary. He serves as an excellent model for many young Rotarians.

Al's wife, Jean, shares his passion for the community service. She is president of the Inner Wheel Club for the region.
Al, Jean, and their family are very special to Rotary and to the community of Jamaica and the Caribbean.
