The Rotary Clubs of The Bahamas annual Foundation Gala Dorian Relief Recognition
Report on This Week’s Progress in The Bahamas
We continue to work as clubs and individuals to assist the communities affected, which has enabled us to:
- Increase donations across our multiple local and international funding channels to $1.6 million.
- Receive a $20,000 donation from the Rotary Club of St. Thomas II, half of which is to be used specifically for Rotarians directly affected.
- Continue the operation of the Rotary Water Plant in Grand Bahama including:
- Daily pumping for distribution across the island; over 190,000 gallons have been pumped already. Water goes to residents, schools, medical facilities, restaurants, and other facilities in need.
- Working to install an additional water pumping system to increase pumping capacity.
- Facilitating 24 Hour Access to site.
- Successfully set up 61 Disaster Aid Tents across affected areas in Grand Bahama, allowing residents to remain on their property to clean up and begin rebuilding.
- Receive and begin preparing for distribution:
- 14 pallets of hand towels donated by Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.
- Two trailers of supplies including soap, shampoo, lotion, wash cloths, towels, sheets, blankets, and pillow covers donated by Sysco International Food Group (Florida).
- Coordinate shipments of various sizes and items from multiple companies and groups directly to survivors in Abaco, Eleuthera and Grand Bahama.
- Continue to support the Hurricane Dorian Relief Initiative (partnership with New Providence Community Church and others) with supplies receiving and collection, sorting, and distribution.
