Rotarian David Kirkaldy was born in 1968 in Montego Bay, Jamaica, the first of two
children of Hugh and Angela Kirkaldy. Hugh had moved to Jamaica from Scotland
where he met Angela Pereira of Montego Bay. In 1970 the family moved to the
Cayman Islands where they have made their home ever since.
David was educated through high school in Grand Cayman, completing his secondary
education at Cayman Prep and High. After a gap year, David attended Loyola University
of New Orleans, graduating in 1992 with a BA in Communications with a concentration
in Public Relations and English Literature.
On returning to the Cayman Islands, David first worked with Atlantis Submarines in
Grand Cayman, before starting a six-year stint with Esso Standard Oil, working at the
Cayman HQ as the local marketing executive charged with service station network
planning and redevelopment, and all aspects of the local fuel and lubricants marketing
for the company.
In 1998 David left Esso and, building on the foundation established by his father-in-law,
founded Massive Equipment Rental and Sales Ltd., a construction equipment rental
business. Over the past 25 years, this firm has become a significant entity in the
construction, and later the events market of the Cayman Islands. Today this diversified
company employs over 40 staff, has a branch office in Cayman Brac, and holds the
JCB equipment dealership for the Cayman Islands.
In addition to the rental business, David has started within the group of companies a
successful digital advertising and marketing company, Massive Media Ltd, employing
eight staff in the Cayman Islands and the Czech Republic, and a retail fireworks
business, Fireworks Ltd.
David has lent his time and talent in a number of civic areas, including as past
president of the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce, and the first chairman of the
Cayman Islands Special Economic Zone Authority.
David married Christina Godfrey in 1995. Christina, from Mandeville, Jamaica, is the
daughter of Michael and Jennifer Godfrey and moved with her family to Cayman in
1977.
David and Christina are the proud parents of son Ryan, a graduate of Northeastern
University in Boston, MA, and daughter Taylor, a graduate of the University of Leeds in
the UK.
Outside of work life, David and Christina enjoy travel and are members of the Cayman
Islands Baptist Church. David is a certified Divemaster, enjoys pickleball, and is
passionate about spin cycling.

Since 1995 David has been a dedicated member of the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman,
having been sponsored into the club by the late Spencer Marshall. David has served as
the assistant Governor for the Cayman Islands, the District Endowment & Major Gifts
Subcommittee Chair, and the Grants Chair. He was President of the Rotary Club of
Grand Cayman in the 2005 to 2006 Rotary year. David is passionate about The Rotary
Foundation, supporting it since starting his Rotary journey and is a Major Donor Level 1,
Bequest Society Level 1, and a Benefactor. Christina is also a Paul Harris Society
member.

David a épousé Christina Godfrey en 1995. Christina, originaire de Mandeville, en Jamaïque, est la fille de Michael et Jennifer Godfrey et a déménagé avec sa famille aux îles Caïmans en 1977.

David a occupé le poste de gouverneur adjoint pour les îles Caïmans, président du sous-comité des dons majeurs et de l'endowment du district, ainsi que président du comité des subventions. Il a été président du Rotary Club de Grand Cayman pendant l'année rotarienne 2005-2006.
